LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police say three men shot to death outside the Georgetown Apartments Sunday killed one another.
"I can't go into great detail about who did what or who shot but at this point we feel the community is pretty safe," said Louisville Metro Police Lieutenant Barry Wilkerson. "There is no gun out there. We don't believe there are any other shooters out there at this point."
LMPD detectives believe Mark Fields and Rayshawn Stovall, both 23, and Kavin Tandy, 31, met in the parking lot for a drug deal and that the deal turned violent. Police recovered three weapons from the scene. Investigators said each man had a gun. All three men had been shot multiple times. Two were dead on arrival, the third died a short time later.
Resident Dana Potts saw the dying men. "It was horrible because I looked down at the one guy, and I think he was sitting up, and the next thing I know he was slumped over," Potts said. "His arm hit the side of the truck and I said, ‘Oh, my God, he just died.'"
Potts said she could only watch as her neighbor Kavin Tandy bled out. "He was alive and he was wearing a black shirt and blood is coming out real bad and after that," Potts said. "They put the white sheet over him, and I knew it was over, I knew he was gone."
LMPD is beefing up security around the Georgetown Apartments. One resident said retaliation rumors are rampant. "The way everybody is talking in the neighborhood, it's not over," said Jimmy Ashford. "People are mad, they're upset."
