Police: Juvenile leads officer on chase in stolen vehicle, crashes

BULLITT COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – A stolen vehicle driven by a juvenile crashed after a police chase, according to Hillview police.

Police said around 3 a.m. a black Avalanche pulled into the BP/5 Star gas station in Bullitt County. A police officer went to speak with the driver of the truck and the vehicle sped off down Brook Hill Road, prompting a 10 to 15 minute chase that ended in a crash.

Police said two people were in the vehicle when the chase began, but the passenger jumped out of the vehicle and fled into nearby woods.

The officer ran the tags of the Avalanche and discovered it had been stolen in Jeffersontown on March 17.

Police notified the owner of the car and took the 16-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle into custody.

No injuries were reported.
