LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville woman is behind bars accused of breaking into cars and stealing people's purses and going on shopping sprees with their credit cards.

Police say Lapascia Pery, 28, racked up thousands of dollars in items, victimizing possibly 15 to 20 people.

Pery was arrested on Monday after a warrant was issued for her. Police don't believe she was acting alone because the trio was caught on camera.

"She spent a lot of money," said Det. Rodney Underwood. "On this one she did her Christmas shopping I believe."

Underwood said Pery wasn't at it by herself, she had the help of two unidentified men. Their MO was breaking into cars and stealing purses.

"They'll ride through a parking lot and not particular if lit up it or dark," said Underwood. "They ride through and park and walk up down the aisles if they see a purse it literally takes a few seconds to smash a window out and walk away with a purse"

Underwood believes their crime spree dates back to November of last year to January of this year.

"Basically went all over town and made purchases on their credit cards," said Underwood.

The stores they allegedly hit include game stop, Target, Toys r Us, and Walgreens. Court documents state Pery racked up more than $500 in bills at Meijer, Wal Mart, and Best Buy on one stolen debit card.

"I can tell you at Best Buy she got a real nice PlayStation 3 system," said Underwood.

Since the two suspects haven't been arrested, a warning for anyone who leaves valuables in their car

"When it's laying right there it's just a target of opportunity," said Underwood.

Pery is facing several charges including forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card.

If you have any info on the two other men wanted, call police at 574-LMPD (5673).
