RACERS' CANAAN INVITED TO
PARTICIPATE IN STATE FARM CLAM DUNK/3-POINT CONTEST IN ATLANTA

Murray State's Isaiah Canaan will participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at 6 p.m. CT (April 4) at McCamish Pavilion on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Intersport announced today via Twitter.
Canaan, who will be part of Hampton Hotels Men's 3-Point Championship, is the first Murray State player to be chosen in the 25 years that Intersport has staged the event.
The 25th annual contest, which will showcase the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of 24 of the nation's top college basketball players, will be broadcast live on ESPN. The broadcast team includes Brad Nessler, Dan Dakich, Jimmy Dykes and Samantha Ponder.
Individual events include: Hampton Hotels Men's 3-Point Championship, State Farm Women's 3-Point Championship, Pepsi MAX Battle of the Champions and Denny's Slam Dunk Championship.
A 6-foot senior guard from Biloxi, was named the 2012 and 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Year and earned All-OVC honors all four seasons as a Racer. This season, Canaan averaged 21.8 points per game, which currently ranks No. 6 among NCAA scoring leaders. He sank an average of 3.03 treys per outing, which ranks 15th in the country. He is also the all-time leader in made 3-point baskets at Murray State and third all-time in the OVC with 304. Canaan also had a streak of 39 straight games (MSU record) to end his career with at least one made 3-point basket. He also made news in 2012 when he hit his first seven threes in a game at Austin Peay.
This week Canaan was named to the Lou Henson All-America team and more post-season awards are sure to come his way this spring after a stellar career at MSU. Canaan is one of only six players to get to 2,000 career points at Murray State and one of only 17 to do it in the OVC.
The four celebrity judges for the 2013 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships are: Harry Douglas, wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons; Julio Jones, Pro Bowler and wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons; Demaryius Thomas, former Georgia Tech standout and 2013 Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Denver Broncos; and Roddy White, four-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons.

Alumni of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships include Gary Payton (Oregon State), Steve Nash (UC-Santa Clara), Allan Houston (Tennessee), Bobby Hurley (Duke), Michael Finley (Wisconsin), Wes Matthews (Marquette), and Mario West (Georgia Tech). Also, six current members of the Harlem Globetrotters are alumni of this event: Kris Bruton, William Bullard, Herb Lang, Bryan Narcisse, Darnell Wilks and John Williams.
