New details released in Posey Co. head-on crash

The Posey County Sheriff's Office has released more details into a head-on crash that injured four people.

Officials say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on SR 62 near the Wabash River Bridge.

According to Posey County Sheriff Greg Oeth, 57-year-old Davy L. Miller, of Carmi, IL, was heading east on SR 62, when he crossed the center line, colliding with the car being driven by 19-year-old Felicia Hampsten, of Grayville, IL.

Miller continued heading east before striking the north guardrail, ricocheting to hit the south guardrail, the north rail, then the south rail again. Officials say Miller's vehicle traveled 1100 feet and came to a rest just before the Sand Rd. intersection.

Authorities say Miller was taken to St. Mary's by medical helicopter and was listed in critical condition.

Officials say Hampsten had two female passengers in the car, one of them 8 months pregnant. They were taken by ambulance to St. Mary's.

Sheriff Oeth says all three women were treated and released with non severe injuries.

Oeth says he suspects alcohol or drugs could be a factor, pending the toxicology report. He tells 14 News he is meeting with Posey Co. Prosecutor Travis Clowers to determine if they will file charges.
