INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WAVE) - Since Indianapolis is so close to
Louisville, many University of Louisville Cardinal fans likely will drive up on
game day Friday. But for those living in and around Indy, the NCAA open
practice is the ticket.
The Cards open practice at Lucas Oil Stadium made some parents very popular with Cardinal kids like Ian Salmon. Ian, whose dad is from Louisville, grabbed some great autographs, from Gorgui Dieng to Peyton Siva.
Other fans felt like kids preparing for their first NCAA game. "We are
16 rows up on the lower level, so it's going to be fun," said Audrey
Carter, who's making her first visit to Lucas Oil Stadium. Audrey's husband, who
has been inside the venue for an NCAA game before, said he likes the new
configuration that puts the game in one end zone for better sight lines.
Other fans were still looking for tickets to the big matchup with Oregon. Louisvillians Harry and Josephine Horton brought their three grandsons to the open practice but were hoping to return Friday night. Harry said they were trying to find affordable tickets. "That's why we're here," he said.
Several fans were hoping to buy tickets from Indiana fans at the open practice who bought seats assuming Indiana would be playing in Indianapolis.
The NCAA reminds fans with tickets at will call at Lucas Oil Stadium to pick them up early to avoid long lines Friday before the game.
