Two shot in second double shooting this week in Hartford

The Hartford Police Department is monitoring the conditions of two men, who were shot on Bedford Street late Thursday night.

Police were called to the 100 block of Bedford Street around 9:30 p.m. where officers found George Harris, 22, with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

In the 300 block of Garden Street, police found Joaquin Cedino, 23, suffering from four gunshot wounds to the back, right torso, right arm and left leg.

Both men were taken to Saint Francis Hospital where Cedino remains in guarded condition and Harris is in stable condition and expected to survive.

So far, neither victim has been available for an interview with police.

Both victims are known to the police.

The shooting comes just days after a double shooting on Clark Street took the lives of two men. A recent up-tick in violence has been seen in the city over the last month. The city did not record a murder in 2013 until March 16.

"We actually haven't really had that many problems," said Bridget D'Angelis, of Hartford. "But, then all of the sudden it seems like an outbreak."

Neighbors expressed concerns that Monday's double shooting would prompt retaliation.

However, police said they do not believe the shooting Thursday night and the double homicide from Monday are related.

Both shootings remain under investigation by the Hartford Major Crimes Division. Investigators said they are making significant progress in both cases.

Anyone with any information about the shootings is asked to call 860-757-4463 or the tip line at 860-722-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers at 860-722-4277. All tips will be kept confidential.
