LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One person died after an SUV overturned and became submerged in a pond.

The accident happened around 4 a.m. Saturday along Fegenbush Lane near 5900 Bay Harbor Drive, located near GE Appliance Park. Police said the driver crossed the center line on the road before going into the pond.

The driver, whose name hasn't been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A neighbor, Quenise Simon, saw the crash and explained, "I talked to 911 until the EMS and police came. And then fire trucks came. You could just hear a loud scream.  After the scream I heard a boom. And another boom. That's when it landed in the pond."

Divers recovered the body of a Hispanic man and said he was the only one in the vehicle.

Metro Police are investigating the cause of the accident and did not indicate whether speed or alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
