Parents charged in boy's accidental shooting

DECATUR, OH (FOX19) -

A Brown County mother and father are facing charges after the accidental shooting of their son.

Sebastian Swartz, 9, died in February after he was shot while playing with his father's gun. A witness said Sebastian's sister tried to take the gun from him before it went off.

Charges were filed on March 28th against Sebastian's parents, Chris Schwartz, 35, and Shanna Schwartz, 34, of Russellville, Ohio.

Both turned themselves into authorities on March 29th and were taken to the Brown County Jail.

According to the Brown County Prosecutor's Office, the pair is charged with felony child endangering because the case resulted in death.

The prosecutor's office will now decide whether or not to take the case to a grand jury.

Both were in court last week.
