Three suspects indicted in credit card theft

HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Hamilton County Prosecutor, Joseph Deters, announced a 13-count indictment on Friday stemming from a criminal enterprise involving credit card theft.

Three individuals are facing a 13-count indictment involving money laundering, telecommunications fraud, misuse of credit cards, theft, possession of criminal tools, receiving stolen property and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Indiana residents Christopher Grier, 26, and Jonathan Martin, 26, along with Illinois resident Ricky Lonners, 30, all stand indicted as co-defendants.

On March 26, authorities apprehended Grier in a traffic stop on I-74. Police found 45 credit cards and a small digital scale in his vehicle.

Based on information developed in an investigation, police responded to the Holiday Inn Express in Harrison, Ohio. Martin and Lonners were located at the hotel. Police apprehended a laptop computer, credit card scanner, 44 additional credit cards and hand-written notes containing credit card information from the defendants.

Friday's indictment charges the three with stealing credit card information and using the information to purchase expensive items, such as I-Pads. The items were then sent to a company in China for reimbursement and additional credit card information which would be used for future purchases.

The multi-state criminal enterprise cost various banking institutions well over $150 thousand.

If convicted of all charges, they face the possibility of 39.5 years in prison.
