FORT KNOX, KY (WAVE) – The civilian employee killed in a shooting on the post has been identified.
According to the Fort Knox Public Affairs Office, Lloyd R. Gibert, 51, of Elizabethtown, was a human resources specialist.
Since 2004, Gibert worked with the U.S. Army Human Resources Command's Field Artillery Branch Officer Personnel Management Directorate on post. Previously, Gibert had served as a human resources specialist while on active duty in the Army.
The soldier charged in Gibert's death, Sgt. Marquinta E. Jacobs, 36, of Radcliff, was arrested in northern Tennessee Thursday after a criminal complaint was filed Thursday by the U.S. Attorney's Office. During a hearing before a Federal Magistrate in Bowling Green Friday morning, the complaint was dismissed and Jacobs was transferred to military custody.
Jacobs is being held at the Marion County Detention Center pending an Article 32 investigation - a fact-finding investigation that is similar to a civilian grand jury hearing. The investigation will determine if there is enough evidence for a court-martial.
