LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Family and friends of a gunshot victim who was
dropped off at Kosair Children's Hospital in March and later died held a
benefit in his honor Sunday night.
Christopher Jones died less than a week after his 25th birthday. Investigators
say one of Jones' friends, Christopher Keith, worked to get rid of evidence after
Jones was shot. Keith claims Jones accidentally shot himself.
"It's killing us all, it's really hurting us all," said Jones' mother Bonnie
Jones. "We're getting by with each other and with God."
Christopher did not have insurance.
Sunday's benefit included a 50/50 raffle, a live band, food and drink and
door prizes. The benefit's goal was to
raise enough money to purchase a tombstone for Jones' gravesite. $815 was
raised. That's close to half of the coast of the tombstone.
