LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - While so many students were out late celebrating the men's win Monday night, they are hoping to do the same for the ladies. Many times the ladies team doesn't get the attention they deserve, but students want to make sure that doesn't happen.

"It's the girls turn to keep it up," said Mahogany Mayfield, a UofL freshman.

"I'm hoping for the same thing," said UofL senior Deron Linton. "I would like to see another great turnout for UofL athletics."

Kendria Rice-Lockett is a former Lady Cardinal who played from 1994 to 1998. She says the women making it this far is extra special to her.

"It makes you remember the time and all the hard work you put in," said Rice-Lockett. "So you kinda can relate to the girls now and how far they've come."

At Gray's College Bookstore, they're preparing to get national champion shirts for the ladies.

"We're also excited because we are gonna get a men and women's tee in so people can show pride for both teams instead of just one," said Jasmine Salm.

"It's definitely something that you look back to 20 years from now and you get to say you were a part of it," said freshman Jacob Terry.
