WAVE 3 Editorial - April 10, 2013: Teamwork

By Ken Selvaggi
WAVE 3 Vice President and General Manager

Teamwork has been termed the fuel that allows common people to obtain uncommon results, and the ability to work together toward a common vision. The University of Louisville men's and women's basketball teams personified teamwork this season.

Their strength was in the collective rather than the individual. They got contributions from everyone. When one player stumbled, another picked up the slack. That is a lesson for all of us.

It was an impressive display of heart, tenacity and relentless effort game after game, especially during the NCAA tournament run.

The men won more games this year than any other team in the history of the program. They finished 35-5 and never really had a bad game in winning their third national championship. The women finished 29-9 and became the lowest seeded team to ever reach the championship game.

Their coaches, Rick Pitino and Jeff Walz, did masterful jobs leading the way.

We salute both teams for not only being winners on the court, but off the court as well. They conducted themselves with class and character and represented the University and the city of Louisville well.
