LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The April edition of the Culture Vulture Visual & Performing Arts calendar is now out and highlighting three musical productions in town. Center Stage will be presenting Avenue Q, the Derby Dinner Playhouse will present the musical 9 to 5 and the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Louisville will present Trial By Jury.
Avenue Q is the smash-hit Broadway musical about real life in New York. It tells the story of Princeton, a college graduate who moves to NYC with big dreams and a tiny bank account. Parental guidance is advised due to mature themes. Avenue Q is playing at the Jewish Community Center from April 11 – 28. Information and tickets for the show are available online at CenterStageJCC.org.
9 to 5, playing at Derby Dinner, is of course the hilarious story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do in a man's world. The musical comedy is based on the hit movie from 1980 and of course features Dolly Parton's hit title song. 9 to 5 the musical is playing at Derby Dinner Playhouse April 2 – May 19. Check online for more info and tickets at DerbyDinner.com.
Trial By Jury, presented by Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Louisville, is a hilarious one-act comedy. The story concerns a breach of promise of marriage lawsuit in which the judge and legal system are the objects of lighthearted satire. The plot of Trial By Jury is ludicrous, but the characters behave as if the events were perfectly reasonable. Trial By Jury will play at The Rudyard Kipling on West Oak Street on April 27 & 28.
