The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is comprised of over 200 basketball teams across twenty-two conferences and seven divisions. The NWBA was founded in 1948, and today consists of men's, women's, intercollegiate, and youth teams throughout the United States of America and Canada.

The NWBA provides qualified individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to play, learn and compete in the sport of wheelchair basketball.

Westport Middle School will host the Second Annual YUM! Brands CANstand Day of Giving in support of Mayor Greg Fischer's "Give a Day" Campaign.  The event, which will be held on the Westport Middle School Soccer Field, benefits The Dare to Care Food Bank and will be held on Wednesday, April 17 from 10am-3pm.

6th, 7th and 8th Grade Students will honor the Mayor's request to VOLUNTEER and Be ACCOUNTABLE!  The students will rotate through the school day serving fresh lemonade to the public in exchange for canned goods or a cash donation. 100% of the donations go to feed the hungry in our community. There will be two different drop-off areas, the school's Soccer Field and at end of the Westport Middle School Carpool line.

Mayor Fischer will join the activities and thank the kids in person for their support from 1:00pm – 1:30pm.

On the evening of Wednesday, May 1st fans from around the country will be the first to see the decanter and have the exclusive opportunity to purchase one hand-signed by both Penny Chenery and Ron Turcotte. Guests at this cocktail reception can enjoy a tasting of the select bourbon carefully chosen by Chenery (a longtime bourbon aficionado) and hear from her directly about the choice. Joined on stage by Four Roses' Master Distiller, Jim Rutledge, the pair will casually guide guests through the tasting experience. Jockey Ron Turcotte will also be on hand to sign merchandise and meet guests at the event.

The bourbon tasting event on May 1st will be the only opportunity to purchase a signed version of the decanter for $320.00. The signed bourbon decanter can be reserved online on a first-come basis with the purchase of an event ticket for $50.00. All decanters must be picked up at the Kentucky Derby Museum due to federal shipping restrictions on alcohol distribution. In addition to the exclusive decanter celebrating Secretariat's 1973 Triple Crown, Four Roses will publicly release a special barrel selection, limited edition Secretariat bottle. The commemorative bottle will feature Secretariat and be adorned with the distinctive blue and white checks of the famed Meadow Stable silks. With limited distribution at select stores along the Triple Crown trail in Kentucky, Maryland and New York. It will also be available for purchase in advance at the Derby Museum.

Proceeds from the sale of both bottles will be dedicated to preserving the history of the Kentucky Derby at the Kentucky Derby Museum and to the Secretariat Foundation benefiting equine-related causes within the racing industry.

More volunteers are needed to drive vets to their appointments. Approximately 120 Veterans are signed up for this service. There is a constant need for new drivers. You must be a Veteran living in Harrison County to be eligible for this service. To volunteer for the DAV Van Program call (812) 738 - 4249.
