FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -
A 36-year-old man is in critical condition after an argument led to a stabbing at the Country Thunder festival early Saturday morning.
Pinal County sheriff's deputies arrested Austin Hansen. Hansen was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
The victim suffered stab wounds to the upper back and rib cage. He was treated and airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn, where he underwent surgery.
Witnesses said it began as a verbal argument and quickly escalated into a stabbing, the sheriff's office said.
"Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of our patrons, music fans and the general public," said Brian Andrews, the producer of Country Thunder. "We don't feel the actions of one person should overshadow four amazing days and nights of events."
