NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Hornets' Anthony Davis - the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft - likely won't win the rookie-of-the-year award.
Davis told reporters Monday that one reason that expectation wasn't met is because he knows he needs to get stronger.
Davis averages 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists. But he also will have missed 18 games due to various injuries, including a knee problem that shut him down for the season's final three games. The Hornets end their season at Dallas on Wednesday.
Davis says taking care of his body is one of his priorities heading into next season. He says the wear and tear of 82 games is definitely something he has to be mindful of.
