LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - On Monday, many people called or stopped by the Fleet Feet store in the Highlands, but not necessarily for running items.

The Louisville store's owner, Jeff Wells, ran the Boston Marathon Monday along with store employee Cat Graham.

Employees had been watching the Marathon, but later it turned it off and dealt with customers. As the phone started ringing with people calling to check in on the two, the employees learned what happened and immediately tried to reach the two.

Workers had difficulty reaching them by calling them, but were able to reach them via text message.

"I texted [Graham] immediately and she got right back to me and said that she was okay, but that she was pretty shook up," Andy Fenton with Fleet Feet said.

Workers then immediately posted on the store's Facebook page to let the running community know that the two were not hurt.

"Please pray for all those in Boston right now. We have heard from both Jeff Wells and Cat Graham and they are both fine," their post stated.

Runners meet at the store a few times a week to run; including a group Monday night. They describe it as a more somber run.

"I saw it on Twitter and then jumped on Facebook and saw that and it's just real shocking," said Deric Smith.

"An event we have that's kind of nationally proud and people spend their whole year trying to qualify and to find something like this it's pretty devastating," said Eric Dumitru.

"Very shocked. You wouldn't think that would be a target for anything like this and I really feel sorry for the people who have been injured or lost their life for it," David Boegler said.
