BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

The dedication of a new baseball field in Batavia honored the memory of Cincinnati Reds scout, Brian Wilson.

A ceremony was held Tuesday at the Batavia Township Community Center to honor the scout that contributed to the careers of many baseball players.

Wilson, the scout that notably found Jay Bruce, died of a heat attack in 2006. He was 33.

Brian Wilson Field at the Batavia Township Community Park will become the home field of the UC Clermont Cougars baseball team. The team currently travels to Blue Ash to play their home games and practice.

The Batavia Township Community Center is also the home of the Reds Rookie Success League of Clermont County, a free, coed, character-building summer baseball program for kids ages 7-to-10.

The program is underwritten and operated by the Reds Community Fund with support from the University of Cincinnati Clermont College, the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce and many others.
