Bengals snag veteran tight end

The Bengals have signed veteran tight end Alex Smith.

An eight-year NFL veteran, Smith played the last three seasons in Cleveland.

A former third round pick in the 2005 draft, Smith has 160 career receptions and 12 touchdowns.  He's split his NFL career between Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Cleveland.

Smith will compete to back-up Bengals starting tight end Jermaine Gresham.
