VINE GROVE, KY (WAVE) - Hardin County school officials have terminated a teacher at James T. Alton Middle School for allegedly having inappropriate communications with a student.

Few details about the incident are available because it's still under investigation. The school district has not released the name of the teacher or said what the inappropriate communications entailed.

A spokesperson for the school district tells WAVE 3 that the teacher is a man and has been with the district since 2010.

Parents were notified by the principal via their "one call" system. The district said they were notified about the alleged incident by a parent and took action immediately.

Officials say the teacher was escorted from the school on Monday and given his termination letter on Tuesday.

"Students are gonna have questions about this," said district spokesperson John Wright. "We just encourage parents to share that this teacher allegedly did something that was wrong. We want them to understand that while they are in this district they will receive the best education safely."

The district is working with Radcliff Police.
