JCPS starts high school pilot program

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Several area high school students will now be able to pick a field of concentration in high school.

The Jefferson County Public School district announced five high schools will work with to redesign their programs incorporating the principles of the Ford Next Generation Learning (NGL) initiative. 

The goal of the programs is to prepare students to be both college and career ready when they graduate.

Students will be able to pick a major and study with the same group. The goal is to will make it easier for teachers and students to track their progress and improve individual learning.

The program will be implemented at Fairdale, Jeffersontown, Pleasure Ridge Park, Southern and Waggener High Schools.
