Committee votes in favor of earlier alcohol sales

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The decision on whether or not to sell alcohol in restaurants earlier on Sundays was passed by the Metro Council Public Safety Committee.

Tuesday, the committee voted in favor of allowing alcohol sales to begin at 10 a.m. in Louisville Metro.

The current law prohibits the sale of alcohol before 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The bill will now move to the Metro Council who will vote on Thursday, April 25.

The bill, which is expected to pass out of Metro Council, would allow 300 restaurants, including Louisville International Airport, to compete with southern Indiana's Sunday alcohol sales.
