SELLERSBURG, IN (WAVE) – Ivy Tech Community College will host a Be the Match bone marrow registry drive. Potential donors will have cells collected through a swab of their cheek to determine if they are a match to a patient.
"We hope to not only raise awareness about the need for bone marrow donors, but perhaps even provide matches for patients on the waiting list," said Kristy Lewis, assistant professor for the School of Health Sciences at Ivy Tech.
The event will take place April 18 from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Pfau Hall on Ivy Tech's Sellersburg campus.
Those wanting to be screened as possible donors should be between the ages of 18 and 44. More information about bone marrow donation can be found at bethematch.org.
