VINE GROVE, KY (WAVE) - Radcliff Police arrested a middle school teacher Wednesday for allegedly inappropriately communicating with a student.
Anthony Durrant, who taught at James T. Alton Middle School, was taken into custody by Radcliff Police at his attorney's office. Durrant is charged with sexual abuse and unlawful use of electronic means to engage in sexual or prohibited activities.
Durrant had taught sixth grade social studies at the school since 2010.
Police say Durrant touched a 13-year-old student on the buttocks on the school property on April 12 and the two were exchanging inappropriate texts over the weekend. Police say the teenager also sent an explicit photo to the teacher.
According to police, they were contacted after the parents of the teen found the messages.
Durrant was escorted from the school on Monday and was given a letter of his termination on Tuesday.
The school notified parents of the investigation on Monday through their one call system. If convicted, Durrant would have to register as a sex offender.
