LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man charged with the rape and murder of a woman in Louisville's California neighborhood has pleaded guilty.
Wednesday afternoon, Anthony Politi made his plea in front of Judge James Shake in the January 22, 2012 death of Edwina Atkins.
On January 27, 2012, Politi had entered a not guilty plea after he was accused of strangling Atkins during sex at a home on West Kentucky Street.
Politi was charged with capital aggravated murder, rape, sodomy, tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felony offender.
Prosecutors recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole.
Politi is scheduled to be sentenced on May 24.
