LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More than 500,000 meals in Kentuckiana will help those in need in 2013 thanks to the Taste of Derby Festival.

Food from 50 restaurants from around Louisville helped raise money for Dare to Care food bank's biggest fundraiser of the year on Wednesday.

Executive Director of Dare to Care Food Bank Brian Riendeau explained, "The great thing about this event is that every dollar that's raised allows Dare to Care to provide four meals to struggling families across Kentuckiana."

Guests also voted for the best bloody mary in town, giving the honor to the Bluegrass Brewing Company.

In 2012, Dare to Care helped nearly 200,000 people in Louisville and southern Indiana fight hunger.
