LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Local runners plan to join together to raise money for the victims of the Boston bombings.

"So many people have asked me 'What can I do to help,' so I've reflected on that," said Jeff Wells, Fleet Feet owner.

Less than a week after completing the Boston Marathon, Wells is already planning his next race.

"All the running stores, Swags, Blue Mile, Ken Combs, and Pacers and Racers, and Fleet Feet Sports are coming together as a group, which is so awesome," said Wells.

The running shops are coming together on Monday, April 22, for a fundraiser to benefit the Boston bombing victims and their families in a 'Run for Boston.'

"Evil can make a lot of noise and it is one of those things where good people usually sit back and do their thing, because they are doing it in their own way," said Wells.

Wells said Monday's run and walk will begin downtown at the Pedestrian Bridge between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Manfred Schmidt, who finished the Boston Marathon just 15 minutes before the first bomb, said he can't stop running now and the tragedy only pushes him to go further.

"It's a very, very emotional time for us, but we are runners and we can outrun it," said Schmidt.

Wells said he is encouraging those who want to participate in Monday's event to donate to the victims' fund. He also adds that a group will be selling blue and yellow ribbons, the colors of the Boston Marathon, and all proceeds will go towards the victims' fund.
