LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - If you are thinking about taking a big bag to Oaks and Derby, think again. There are changes of what you can and can't bring to the track this year. One of the biggest changes is those big bags and purses are a big no no!
We are seeing security changes across the country because of the recent tragedy in Boston.
Churchill Downs said your bag must be 12 inches or less in any dimension. A large bag is a safety issue and the smaller the bag, the faster you move through security.
"We've had to get the ruler out definitely," said Amy Paige at Dillard's in Mall St. Matthews.
At Dillard's stores in our area, they've gotten an extra shipment of the smaller purses to help people complete their look.
"Right now the cross over body bags those are very popular and of course the smaller clutch," said Paige.
Churchill officials said they will have one those boxes, kind of like the ones you see at the airport, to make sure your bag is the correct size.
If its too big, be prepared to drop take it back to your car or dump it in the trash. The only exception is diaper bags and you have to have your child with you.
