LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A teacher accused having a sexual relationship with a student has been indicted by a grand jury.

Tuesday, Jessica M. Boyer's lawyer entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

According to an arrest report, Louisville Metro Police found Boyers, 24, around 9:45 p.m. on April 11 in the company of a juvenile in Buechel Park in the 200 block of Alpha Avenue.

The report states the juvenile told police there had been sexual contact between the two and that Boyers was a teacher of the juvenile.

Boyers was arrested on a charge of sexual abuse and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections. She was later released on her own recognizance.

Ben Jackey, a JCPS spokesperson, said Boyers was hired full time as a teacher at Highland Middle School in October 2012. Prior to that, she had worked as a substitute teacher at various schools for a year.

Boyer has been ordered to have no contact with the student.
