LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Winning an education competition paid off for two teams.

Tuesday, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer announced the winning teams of the 55,000 Degrees Innovation in Education Attainment Competition.

The competition aimed to foster technology-based approaches to improve degree completion rates and attract more college-educated people to Louisville.

Dr. Penny Smith from Kentucky State University explained, "Sometimes when you have so many questions, you just don't know where to start. So that was the inspiration for the app and I look forward for this app to be fully developed, fully implemented."
