Kentucky Shakespeare educates one millionth child

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - How does the greatest writer in the English language celebrate his 449th birthday? By educating the one millionth child in the largest arts program in Louisville Metro.

Tuesday, Fern Creek Traditional High School celebrated William Shakespeare's Birthday along with a milestone for Kentucky Shakespeare.

On the historic day, more than 90 productions were preformed at different schools in the Commonwealth.

Tamauni Bennett, a sophomore at Fern Creek High School said, "It's an easy way to express yourself.  Some kids go through different things you know. You can express yourself through the plays and stuff, just being different people and it's just fun."

WAVE 3's Chief Photojournalist Doug Druschke and Dawne Gee took part in the celebration and education workshops.
