Meeting held over possible Lunken Airport expansion

EAST END, OH (FOX19) -

Lunken Airport officials discussed the idea of a major expansion and a possible deal to bring a low-cost airline to the Tri-State.

Dozens of residents were in attendance at the Linwood Community Council Meeting Tuesday night. Many of them expressed concern about the potential noise, traffic and pollution that an expansion would bring.

That expansion could include a lengthened runway and commercial flights out of Lunken Airport.

Officials said talks are still in the early stages of a deal with the low-cost airline, Allegiant Air. The airline has flights to many destination spots, including Las Vegas, Hawaii, Florida and California.

Lunken says in order to complete the deal, a dramatic makeover would need to take place at the airport.
