Thursday's memorial for the victims of the West fertilizer plant explosion was emotional, as one would imagine. The families of those who lost loved ones faced the caskets of those first responders who gave their lives for their community. Those who attended were handed this program with the names, photos and bios of those brave first responders.
We had the opportunity to speak to Cass County's assistant fire chief who says his department not only participated in today's processional, but arrived last night where they stood guard at the funeral home in Hillsboro.
Well, we mourn their loss also. the community of west is a lot like the town we come from. It would just be devastating to lose that many people and have that happen in our jurisdiction, so I can't imagine how they must be feeling right now." said Cass County Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Hagins.
He says his department will be back out in West on Monday posting guard and doing whatever the task force needs them to do.
