Charge against man cleared of murder dropped

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man who was cleared of a murder he didn't commit has now been cleared of a separate charge.

Kerry Porter no longer faces a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Porter was facing the charge following an arrest in July 2012.

Porter's attorney said both sides agreed to drop the charge since it was not Porter's gun and he was not in his own home.

In December of 2011, the Commonwealth's Attorney's office came to the conclusion Porter did not murder Tyrone Camp in 1996. Jefferson County Circuit Judge Irv Maze dismissed a 1998 indictment against Porter and ordered him freed from prison after more than 14 years.
