ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A man is facing several counts of voyeurism in two separate counties.

According to Kentucky State Police, John Ashber, 50, is charged with nine counts of voyeurism in Hardin County and six in LaRue County.

Detectives said Ashber placed a camera in a bathroom inside a tissue box and recorded a teenage family member undressing and showering.

People in Ashber's old neighborhood are in disbelief. Neighbor Barbie Clark said, "Honestly, meeting him, he seemed like a nice guy."

The mother of the alleged victim discovered the camera and turned it over to KSP. She told police neither she, nor the alleged victim, had any knowledge of the recordings.

Investigators seized 15 videos, nine of which were made in their old Elizabethtown home. Police said the video show Ashber's face as he set up the camera and took it down to look at the footage.
Police confiscated two computers from Ashber's rental home. Those have been sent to the FBI's forensic lab for further investigation.

Ashber has a no contact order with the alleged victim and with her mother. He had a $40,000 property bond set, which he posted.
