LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A recess was called a few hours into a man's second trial.

Steven Pettway is on trial for the 2009 murder of Troya Sheckles.

Sheckles was killed before she could testify in the trial of her boyfriend's accused killer, Lloyd Hammond. Lloyd's brother, Dejuan Hammond, is also charged in Sheckles' murder.

Friday, Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Roy Stalvey testified about an encounter he had with Pettway during his investigation, several months after Sheckles was shot to death in Shelby Park.

"He went on to say he heard the shooter was wearing a mask and nobody knew who it was. Essentially saying that he didn't know who the shooter was," Stalvey explained.

Pettway's trial is scheduled to resume Monday morning. His first trial ended in a mistrial in October 2012.
