Spalding University announces plans to expand

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A college in Louisville announced plans to expand on Friday.

Spalding University plans to expand its campus after purchasing the Cosmopolitan building on South 3rd Street.

The University was able to purchase the 40,000 square foot building with money donated by Republic Bank.

The university plans to renovate the space, which will be named the republic Bank Academic Center, and include 40 faculty offices, six labs, five classrooms and one large lecture hall.

The university's enrollment reached 2,500 students for the fall 2013 semester and the new building will help accommodate future growth.

The center is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014.
