LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE)
- The driver killed in a crash on the Watterson Expressway while
driving the wrong way, has been identified.
According to police, around 8:30 p.m.
Saturday Timothy Sharp, 33, was driving a white Cavalier eastbound on
Interstate 264 West when he wrecked into a Cadillac between Cane Run Road and Bells
Lane. Sharp, the father of two young girls ages 2 and 5, was killed in the
Sharp's fiancé was
with him during the crash and was transported to University Hospital.
A witness, Jimara
Thomas, 16, said she was with her aunt on her way home from WalMart with her
aunt when they passed the crash site, "I knew somebody died just by the way the
white car looked. It was all smashed into pieces into the wall."
As she got closer, Thomas
realized her gut instinct was right, "We started to drive by and I saw a
sheet and I was looking over the side of the window and I just saw a man laying
there and I just started crying."
Jimara said she cried
the whole way home, "I was just thinking about like somebody has lost
their son the night before Mother's Day and somebody lost their father."
Sharp's next door neighbor,
Troy Dunn, was stunned to hear the news, "It's a bad thing, especially for
her and those two kids, especially those kids that have to grow up like that
with no dad."
Dunn described Sharp
as a nice guy who liked to fish. He also said Sharp was a part-time chef and
was leaving a wedding where he was the DJ.
Sharp's fiancé is
expected to recover.
The driver of the Cadillac
was also transported to University Hospital and is listed in serious condition.
