LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A 65-year-old man has been charged with the shooting of his son.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 6800 block of Green Manor Drive in the Highview neighborhood.
According to an arrest report, Metro police say Thomas Jackson told them his son had just gotten out of jail for shoplifting that morning and was acting belligerent all day.
The report states Jackson was talking on the phone when his son came in to the room cursing Jackson and his wife and demanded that he hang up the phone. Jackson told police he pulled out his revolver and pointed it at his son.
After his son cursed him and made a threatening move, Jackson said he fired twice hitting his son in the abdomen.
The younger Jackson was rushed to University Hospital where he underwent surgery. The elder Jackson was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on one count of assault.
Police said they had been called to the Jackson home earlier in the day on over trouble between the two men.
