LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – On Monday, a Jeffersonville woman was arrested in Louisville on five felony charges relating to her alleged exploitation of an elderly victim in her care for thousands of dollars.

Kimberly Rybicki, 45, was the victim's paid caregiver. According to police, Rybicki took advantage of the situation for personal monetary gain, pretending to be her victim and using the victim's credit cards to steal approximately $61,000 over the course of two years.

According to Detective Andrea Jenkins, the victim is 86 years old, legally blind from macular degeneration and requires care on a daily basis. Rybicki was hired and paid by the victim to provide necessary care and assistance.

Police said Rybicki used the credit cards to withdraw money and pay for goods or services from November of 2010 to October 2012. These alleged transactions were done without the knowledge or consent of the victim.

Rybicki is charged with one count of knowingly exploiting an adult for an amount greater than $300, three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card for $10,000 or more, and one count of theft by unlawful taking or disposition.
