James Harrison speaks to Cincinnati press

In his first public comments in Cincinnati since joining the Bengals, James Harrison admitted he will play with extra motivation to beat his former team.

But, it's his claim that he spends $400,000 to $600,000 a year to make sure his body is NFL ready that made national headlines.  Harrison said he spends the money on supplements, training and a live in personal health team of massage therapists, acupuncturists and other health specialists.

Harrison, who missed a total of 8 games the past two seasons because of lingering knee problems, says he feels, physically, the best he's felt since his NFL Defensive Player of the Year season in 2008.

Harrison signed a two-year contract with the Bengals last month, but was hesitant to admit any extra motivation to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Steelers, the only team Harrison has played for, asked the 5-time Pro Bowl linebacker to take a pay cut, but he refused.

"I understand it's a business, so it's not like I can really take it personal," said Harrison at Paul Brown Stadium.  "But, to say that it doesn't motivate me in some sense would be a lie."

Harrison is expected to start at linebacker this coming season.

At 35-years-old, he is the oldest Bengal on the roster.
