– A group of high school students has been voted into the finals of a design
The voting for the
Vans Custom Culture contest ended at midnight on May 13 and Eastern High School
was able to make the cut, scoring enough votes to win the southeast region of
in Trisha Hamilton-Cooper's art class worked together to design four different pair
of shoes to submit.
school is now one of five finalists in the competition and their designs will now
be judged by a celebrity
panel. Vans will give the school a travel budget for the students to fly to New
York City for the June 11 event.
If they win they will
receive $50,000 toward their school's art program and their designs will be
featured on Vans shoes. Each runner up will receive $4,000 to go to their
schools art program.
