LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro police will be increasing the enforcement of seat belt violations.

The department is partnering with the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and other state and local law enforcement agencies for the annual Click it or Ticket campaign, which runs from May 20 to June 2.

Officers will buckle down on drivers who are not buckled up and said they are prepared to ticket anyone who is not wearing a seat belt, without warnings or excuses.

The goal of the campaign is to increase driver safety. According to LMPD, Kentucky's seat belt usage rate is 83 percent, which is below the national rate of 86 percent.
