LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A crossover accident involving an overturned tanker has closed the westbound lanes of the Gene Snyder Freeway (KY 841).

According to MetroSafe, the accident happened at 6:19 p.m. just west of the New Cut Road entrance ramp when a truck, a small oil tanker, that was heading eastbound lost control, crossed the mediam and came to rest in the westbound lanes.

The truck, the only vehicle involved in the accident, is owned by Riverside Paving of Louisville. The driver was not seriously injured.

Westbound traffic on the Snyder is put off at the New Cut Road exit. Eastbound traffic coming from Dixie Highway and Stonestreet Road is not impacted by the wreck.

The LMPD traffic unit is on the scene. The westbound Snyder is not expected to reopen until midnight at the earliest.
