O'More College of Design has impressive grad job record

FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

It's graduation time for thousands of local college students who are now getting their introduction to the real world. Many know that a college diploma does not necessarily mean a job, but at one Middle Tennessee school, it's close to a sure thing.

O'More College of Design in Franklin sees 76 percent of its students get jobs within 30 days of graduation. Only Vanderbilt University has a higher placement rate among schools in Tennessee.

"We really take those with a creative ability and some natural gifts, and we give them the design tools and technologies, but we also give them a rigorous academic education," said Shari Fox, Vice President of Academic Affairs.

And if you think a design career can be a long shot, O'More President Dr. K. Mark Hilliard said that's not the case at all. Designers are working everywhere.

"Thousand of jobs in graphic design out there available right now. Knowing that you're going into a design field is a whole lot more positive than if you were going into a field which we don't have a lot of jobs for that," Hilliard said.
