PUTNAM COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Murder charges have been filed in the case of two Ottawa teens whose bodies were found hours after an Amber Alert was issued.
The Putnam County Prosecutor's Office has conducted its review of the investigation into the deaths of Blake and Blaine Romes brothers.
The office has filed two counts of aggravated murder against Michael Fay, 17, in Putnam County Juvenile Court. Additionally, a motion to transfer has been filed requesting the court transfer the jurisdiction of the case to Putnam County Common Pleas Court so that Fay could be tried as an adult.
An Amber Alert was issued for Blake Romes, 17, Blaine Romes, 14, and Fay in the morning of May 9. A few hours later, the vehicle that was missing from the scene was found in the Columbus area with Fay. The Amber Alert was canceled after Fay told authorities where the bodies of the Romes brothers were.
The Putnam County assistant prosecutor says the coroner's report found that Blaine died of a gunshot wound to the head. His older brother, Blake, died of strangulation, but also had blunt force trauma and a gunshot wound to the head.
Fay is still in the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center. He is due back in front of a judge Tuesday.
