LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person has died after a traffic crash on Interstate 64 that has backed up traffic heading toward downtown for miles.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes just east of the Watterson Expressway (I-264) interchange.
According to Louisville Metro Police, a Ford Explorer was struck from behind by a Suzuki Forenza. After the driver of the Explorer got out to assess the damage, the Suzuki was struck from the rear by a Ford F-250. The impact pinned the driver of the Explorer between his vehicle and the Suzuki.
The Explorer driver, a man reported to be in his mid 40s, was taken to University Hospital and later died from his injuries. His name has not been released.
