LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two men killed in separate vehicle crashes in Louisville on Sunday have been identified.

A representative of the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said Michael Shea, 46, of Greenwood, IN died of multiple blunt force injuries at 2:07 p.m. Sunday at University of Louisville Hospital.

Police said Shea had been involved in an accident on Interstate 64 at the Watterson Expressway just after 1:30 p.m. When he got out of his Ford Explorer to take a look at the damage to his vehicle, a black pickup truck slammed into the Suzuki that had hit Shea, pinning Shea between the Suzuki and his Explorer.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday, motorcyclist Dwain Robert Rice, 33, of Glendale Road in Louisville hit a Toyota RAV4 at Hurstbourne Parkway near Bardstown Road. Investigators said Rice was traveling between 85 and 90 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone and tried to avoid the Toyota, but he was unable to. Rice was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 5:51 p.m.

The coroner’s office said Rice was wearing a helmet and died of multiple blunt force injuries.
